First of all, you can have the seat of your arbitration in Houston, but you don’t need to come to Houston in person. It is possible to obtain the benefits of Houston as a legal seat while having hearings elsewhere or not having them at all.
If you choose to come to Houston, it is served by three main airports. In most cases, international travel will pass through George Bush Intercontinental Airport, which functions as the primary global gateway. In many cases, domestic trips will instead use William P. Hobby Airport, which offers a more compact and efficient experience. In certain situations, particularly for private, governmental, or specialized operations, flights may be handled through Ellington Airport.
George Bush Intercontinental Airport is about 23 miles north (25–35 minutes), William P. Hobby Airport about 11 miles south (15–25 minutes), and Ellington Airport about 15 miles southeast (20–30 minutes) from Downtown Houston.
Houston offers a wide range of high-quality accommodations, particularly in Downtown, such as Four Seasons Hotel Houston, Marriott Marquis Houston, or Hilton Americas-Houston, as well as numerous boutique hotels. They offer business-ready infrastructure, including meeting and hearing facilities.
Importantly, many leading international law firms are also located in Downtown Houston, often within walking distance of these hotels, which allows hearings and meetings to be conducted efficiently within a compact geographic area.
There are several options available. In most cases, proceedings may be administered by institutions such as American Arbitration Association / International Centre for Dispute Resolution or JAMS. These institutions are well-established in the United States, offer experienced panels and case management, as well as hearing facilities. For smaller hearings, breakout sessions, or procedural meetings, parties and tribunals may opt for numerous hotels.
Houston offers a deep pool of highly specialized experts, particularly in energy, construction, and infrastructure disputes. In most cases, parties will find leading quantum, delay, and technical experts from global firms, many of whom have a strong presence in Houston.
If Spanish-language services are needed, they are widely available in Houston. In most cases, parties will have access to bilingual counsel, arbitrators, and experts, particularly given Houston’s strong connections with Latin Institutions such as International Centre for Dispute Resolution and JAMS can accommodate proceedings in Spanish, including case management support.
In addition, professional interpreters, translators, and court reporting services are readily available in Houston, allowing hearings, submissions, and evidence to be handled seamlessly in Spanish where required.
